Careers

Our aim at Woodbridge College is to work with our students to achieve meaningful and sustainable opportunities for them in adulthood, recognising their individual needs and aspirations.

Students are taught the skills and attitudes needed to enable them to prepare for adulthood. This includes support to be able to find paid employment if appropriate, live independently or as independently as they can, stay healthy and participate in the community, such as through voluntary work.

We want to inspire successful futures for all our students. There will always be a wide variety of outcomes reflecting the different needs and abilities of our students.

Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance

External and impartial advice is provided by Connexions Career Service Bolton. They deliver a bespoke Careers Advice and Guidance Programme which is primarily a component of the Employability Pathway but is also delivered to all students for whom this is an appropriate activity. All students access careers education as part of the college offer.

We share the presumption that many of our students will be capable of sustaining paid employment with the right preparation and support.

We want all our students to be valued members of their community.

Work Placements

Our job coach provides students with an individual programme which includes supported work placements (college staff or workplace mentor) both on and off site. Opportunities are identified for students on other pathways, where appropriate. Internal placements are available to all students, such as running the Tuck Shop, Pit Stop or Brunch Bar.

The provision of work experience ensures that all students have the opportunity to explore what work is like, what it takes to be successful in the workplace and what it is like to learn in this type of environment.

We work with many partners to provide meaningful, supportive placements these include:
