Curriculum Offer

At Woodbridge College, the curriculum is a personalised roadmap designed to prepare every student for life after education. By aligning every learning experience with a student’s individual Destination and EHCP outcomes, we ensure that their time with us is purposeful, relevant, and transformative.

Every learning activity  and community visit is designed with the student’s future in mind. We believe that learning best happens when it is consists of authentic experiences that allows our students to gain the relevant skills they need. Our students don’t just learn in classrooms; they learn through real-life scenarios, enterprise projects, and community participation. Our goal is to cultivate resilient, active learners who possess the confidence to navigate the next phase of their journey and thrive in their local communities.

We measure our success by how well a student is prepared for their unique path in:

  • Employment & Meaningful Activity: Developing the skills and stamina for work, volunteering, or meaningful daily engagement.

  • Community Inclusion: Building the social networks and confidence to access and belong to their wider community.

  • Living Arrangements: Mastering the habits and routines needed for independent living, supported living, or life at home.

  • Health & Wellbeing: Establishing the self-regulation, safety, and physical health strategies required for a happy, healthy life.

Pathway Overviews

Our  curriculum structure encompasses five distinct pathways: Skills for Engagement, Skills for Life, Skills for Independence, Skills for Work, and Supported Internships.

These pathways provide a distinct curriculum offer that is directly linked to students’ aspirations and goals. This allows tutors to  implement a bespoke and individualised curriculum that  ensures every experience is tied to a student’s specific EHCP and destination outcomes.

The flexibility within these pathways enables each student to have a unique experience at college, ensuring that the support, environment, and learning experiences are perfectly matched to what they need for their next phase of life.

  • Skills for Engagement
This pathway is designed for students with complex needs, focusing on the Engagement Model. It is a sensory-rich and relationship-led environment where the focus is on communication, therapies, self-regulation, and establishing the foundational signals for increased autonomy and choice.

  • Skills for Life
Focused on the foundations of daily living, this pathway supports students to develop functional communication and the essential routines required for life at home and in the community. It bridges the gap between being supported and active participation.

  • Skills for Independence
This pathway prioritises autonomy and social citizenship. Students are challenged to increase their independence in a variety of settings, developing the functional skills and personal resilience needed to navigate adult life with less reliance on others.

  • Skills for Work
A vocationally-led pathway that immerses students in the world of work and volunteering  through enterprise, retail, and community-based projects. It focuses on work-readiness, professional behaviours, and identifying a clear vocational profile for the future.

  • Supported Internships
Our highest level of vocational immersion, this pathway takes place primarily in the workplace. It is designed to bridge the gap between education and paid employment, focusing on mastering professional competencies and demonstrating employability skills.
